HRLD INVESTORS WITHDRAW SPONSORSHIP OF MANOY ALIPON

It is with great sadness that the HRLD investors must withdraw their sponsorship of Manuel Alipon.

Vice Mayor Manoy Alipon’s greed, hypocrisy, corruption and betrayal of trust came as a devastating shock to the foreign investors who believed in him, who in good faith started a Philippine business in partnership with him, and who supported him financially and in other ways throughout his 2007 election campaign.

Since then his destructive and hostile actions towards the business partners who helped him to become City Vice Mayor forced us to cease our manufacturing operations in Santa Rosa City and move out of Laguna.

In December 2006 we became business partners of Manuel Gonzales Alipon, then Chairman of Barangay Balibago and known as ‘Kap Manoy’. We donated 1.1 million pesos in cash to his vice-mayoral election campaign and a further 2 million pesos in the value of other assistance, such as loan/use of machines, equipment, materials, labor and factory space for Manoy's various political and private activities. All this sponsorship on top of our business startup costs was an enormous handicap to HRLD, causing us many expensive problems and delays.

Then, as soon as he was elected City Vice Mayor, Manoy turned against the foreign investors who had supported him. He repaid their generosity with extortionate demands for HRLD to pay operating costs of his trucking company Man-Ali. When they refused, he embarked on a series of actions intended to drive the investors away, ending with theft of their property and destruction of their business.

Vice Mayor Alipon forced HRLD out of Laguna, causing Santa Rosa City to lose the 32 new jobs we had already created and many more from our planned expansions and diversifications.

The honesty, integrity and selfless dedication
of Arlene Arcillas-Nazareno has earned her
the reputation of being the best Mayor that
Santa Rosa has ever had, whereas dishonorable
Manuel G. Alipon has become known as
the most corrupt Vice Mayor in its history.

Foreign businesses deciding where to invest
in the Philippines often ask us what they can
learn from HRLD's Santa Rosa experience.

Fortunately our foreign and OFW investors were prepared for initial losses when starting their business in Sta Rosa Laguna, and our bad experience with its corrupt vice mayor has made us stronger. We know from collective experience and contacts that not all Filipino politicians are corrupt like Manoy Alipon. Learning from our mistake in trusting a man so undeserving of trust, we made a successful fresh start with elected officials who understand that corruption is an evil that oppresses Filipino people and denies them a good future.

HRLD no longer exists as a manufacturing business. Manoy Alipon submitted in its company registration several 'dummy stakeholders' including himself, none of whom ever invested a single peso in it. This forced the true investors to cease trading as HRLD and form a new trading business together with genuine Filipino stakeholders. Manoy's corruption has made it necessary for us to terminate our partnership with him. Instead, our consortium has been boosted by honest resident and OFW Filipino investors as well as by other foreigners.

HRLD lives on as an international investment group with Christian vision. We are united in our support for the Philippine Republic and in our operating principles of honor, respect, love and dignity for all. We forgive Vice Mayor Alipon, for he is merely the product of his past. Let us all join together in the prayer: "Father forgive him, for he knows not what he does. Amen." Manoy's future - like ours and yours - is in the hands of GOD.

At this time of world financial crisis with high inflation and high unemployment we sincerely hope that President Arroyo and Mayor Nazareno, who in total contrast to Vice Mayor Alipon are both working diligently to attract more foreign investors and more new jobs to the Philippines, will both succeed in their endeavors with flying colors. They and this nation deserve such success.

The original small group of HRLD investors from the UK who started the manufacturing business in Laguna was part of the international HRLD investment group. It includes Filipino OFWs and foreign investors from the USA, Philippines, China, Japan, Korea, Dubai, UK, France Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia and Russia. We salute all Filipinos of integrity and passion who want their city, their province and their nation to progress and prosper beyond Third World poverty, pollution, disease and crime.

We bring honor, respect, love and dignity to our colleagues, associates, workers and customers, and to the honest uncorrupt officials who invite and welcome overseas investors to create new business and new jobs in their municipalities. They represent the future of the Philippines true to GOD and true to every Filipino citizen. Practitioners of hypocrisy, greed, corruption and obsessive self-aggrandizement such as Sta. Rosa's evil Vice Mayor Manoy Alipon represent only themselves and are a destructive handicap to the nation's progress.
